Who gives a shit?
06.29.04 (9:33 am) [edit]
Let me see a show of hands... how many of you, as students, give a flying fuck about Blooms Taxonomy? How many of you raise your hand in class and tell the teacher, "You know, you really aren't tackling all levels of Blooms Taxonomy. I feel like you are failing me as a learner."
No hands.
What a fucking shock.
This is one of the largest failures of teacher education. Education teachers are too busy masturbating their theoretical hard ons and stroking their pet ideals, that they don't focus on the bread and butter issues that will make you a successful teacher in the classroom.
Teacher education classes are a serious waste of time. I cant wait to be done with this shit, so I can get out there and teach.

Looney Tunes Gold, Vol 2
06.28.04 (9:02 am) [edit]
Just found out, from a fairly reliable website, the list of cartoons that will be on Looney Tunes, the Golden Collection Vol 2. Some of the ones I am most excited to get on DVD include "I Love to Singa", "One Froggy Evening", and "Whats Opera, Doc?"
This is gonna be a great set. I will be at Best Buy the day it comes out.
Kid is at daycare, and I am enjoying some peace and quiet.
Had a teacher tell me earlier that I should become a journalist. She said I have a knack for it.
Heh.... I would never be a journalist. They are only one rung above accident chasing lawyers in my book. If I wanted to harrass people when they are in pain, I will become a funeral plan salesman before I become a journalist.
OMG.... MTV just showed a video. WTF?

Isn't organized religion grand? It tries to tell you what to think, how to worship, and now.... how to invest your money.
Although I am not sure what is worse: The fact that a church would try to use the investment stratigies of its members to forward its political and moral adjenda.... or the fact that there may be people weak minded enough to let a church do that.
Sad.....

06.21.04 (4:19 am) [edit]
After a night were I barely got any sleep due to the worry that I would miss class and not be able to turn in my crappy story (I kept waking up ever 30 minutes or so to check the clock), and after a stressful evening of writting the crappy story... and after the stressful weekend of dealing with a sick tot......
I have lost my motivation to rant.
Naw, I have lost the energy to rant. It was going to be good too. Full of profain words, like "fuck" and "shit" and "cocksucking asshole" and "skipping pebbles on the lake."
Wait, whats profain about that?
Man am I out of it. I am going to go to class for a nice nap.

Tired
06.19.04 (4:55 pm) [edit]
Been tired alot lately. I guess this getting up a 6:30am crap is catching up with me hard core this time.
But I have solved that next semester! There are two days of the week where I won't have to get up until [b]7[/b]
HA HA! Take that, Mr. Sandman! You tiring bastard!
*cough*
The tot is better, for the most part. He still gets a bit of a temp off and on, but he is back to normal... a.k.a. a holy terror.
BTW, does anyone know when its safe to allow your kids to eat peanuts? I have avoided giving him peanuts, because I have heard that if kids eat peanuts too early, they might develope an alergic reaction to them.
But maybe I shouldn't give him any peanuts.... that does mean more for me.....

Not a party for me, either
06.17.04 (5:40 pm) [edit]
Why does my child feel the need to run everytime I need to change his diaper?
Yes, when I grab the diaper and the wipes, he goes a running.... giggling his fool head off. I finally tackle him... and he squirms and fusses.
I assure you, wiping your ass isn't exactly a party for me either, pal!
I am medicating him right now for strep. He does the same running routine from that too. Dad is really getting into shape.

The Call
06.16.04 (7:10 am) [edit]
Last night at work, I got the call that every parent dreds.
Me: Hello? Other Person: Hello, is this Lawngnome? Me: Why, yes it is. Other Person: This is Sara from Bobs Used Tires and Daycare. We need to talk to you about Lawngnome Jr.
Right then, my heart sunk.
There are three reasons that the daycare could be calling.
A. The kid got injured B. The kid is sick C. My child ate another child.
Luckily, the reason for the call was B.
So looks like today was an unexpected day off of class and work to watch the tot. He is drinking juice and watching Seseme Street with a cooling strip on his forehead.
Lets hope he gets to feeing better.

The pain begins
06.13.04 (7:41 pm) [edit]
I fucking hate journalism.
I hate the attitudes that journalists have. They seem to come across with an "I'm doing this for you, so you should be grateful that I exist" attitude. I hate the "I am gonna change the world!" attitude that many journalism students seem to have.
I hate the fact that in order to "teach you to be conscious of deadlines", you have to have every single thing turned on time, no matter what. Yes, your dad could be dying in your arms, but you better put him to the side so you can get that fake news story done in time for class.
And while there is no death here, I am here trying to get a damn fake news story done for journalism class. I have to take this class and another b.s. journalism class so I can get certified to teach journalism. Well, more importantly I want to teach radio or television... which many schools have these days.
I just hope they don't stick me teaching a newspaper class.
I can do yearbook. Yearbook is all about making a pretty book, and overcharging stupid teenagers for it. I can do that. Forcing my kids to whip out a weekly "newspaper" for a high school.... man that would just suck.
I mean, its fucking high school for fucks sake. Its not like there is any real news going on. Sure, the quarterback fucking the entire cheerleading squad while on a drunken rampage may sell copies of the paper.... but thats about all the news that fit to print in a high school.
Back to the grind....

PS2
06.13.04 (3:57 pm) [edit]
If I could just keep the kid away from the game systems, I would be doing good.
I don't know why, but he cannot keep his hands off the PS2 or the Gamecube. Its a real pain to have to stop what I am doing every few minutes to go and stop him from playing with the game systems.
Anyway, I have been surfing alot of car websites the past few days. Gotta keep my eyes on the prize, so to speak. I am wanting a new car pretty bad. Yes, the car I have now runs... but thats about it. It has a long list of body damage and mechanical defects, and I am honestly suprised everytime it decides to start in the morning.
I might do a top 5 cars wish list sometime. But for now, I see a tot with his beady little eyes on the fridge door....
*edit* Nevermind. He is glued to the tv now. Thank goodness for Mucha Lucha. Its one of his favorite cartoons. Current Mood:

Time flies when
06.11.04 (3:27 pm) [edit]
Time flies when you are busy as heck.
Went from my lax schedule of work to a schedule of work and school. School four days of the week, work three days of the week after classes, then one day of the week I work without school.
I am glad its only for four weeks for one class, and then one extra week for another class. I am sure missing those lazy days of just work, thats for sure.
Anyway, the tot is out, so its time for a power nap.

PBS sucks
06.08.04 (9:33 am) [edit]
I hate the PBS station here. At 12:30, they switch from kids programing to crap like "Antiques Roadshow" or some gardening shit. So basicly, they cut their viewers down to... like.... 3 people. Its stupid.
Oh well, I guess its back to commercial t.v. for the kiddo. But then again, thats the american way. ;)

Knight Rider
06.07.04 (12:42 pm) [edit]
Heh, the computer lab has nice new black computers. Flat screen monitors, and optical mice round out the new look. All they need are little LED lights in the top that go back and forth, and they would have the knight rider look down pat.
Little guy slept thru the night fairly well, and has gone to bed without protest for a few nights in a row... which means he is a bit under the weather. I have a doctors appointment set up for him, so we will see if things are clearing up for him.
I am hungry for a Mexican Pizza from Taco Bell. *checks his wallet* SWEET! I have the money and a coupon. Rock on!

Interesting day today
06.05.04 (6:22 pm) [edit]
Well, while I am not the one who typically celebrates death, I will admit that I am glad to see Reagan dead. I thought the image of the man was overblown. He neither brought down the Soviet Union, nor did he ever walk on water. People who claim he did either, or even that he had a huge part in the first, are naive.
And of course, I could go into the evils of deregulation, his favortism of the religious right and several of their ideals, his anti worker policies, his huge deficit spending and military buildup, his questionable actions as a private citizen, the Iran Contra afair, the possibility that he ran the country while senile, the crock of shit that is trickle down economics....
But this is a blog, not a dissertation. So I will just sum up my feelings on Reagan with this little web gem I came across: http://www.the-arcade.net/reagandead.jpg" title="http://www.the-arcade.net/reagandead.jpg" target="_blank"http://www.the-arcade.net/rea...
I have gotten several versions of it emailed to me already. lol!
At any rate, I have a toddler to wake up from a nap. I may take him on a walk tonight. He has been a good boy today.... only gave me two or three near heartattacks.

06.04.04 (1:25 pm) [edit]
Got to mail all my mail today, since to tot is in daycare and I didn't have to drag him around the post office.
I also am sitting in the living room with no tv on. The silence is... beautiful.

The little guy went out early.
Hopefully, he won't wake at 3 am or anything...
Had the electrical system in the car fail earlier. Every accessory stopped working for about 20 minutes while I was driving. Luckily, I remember how to do the turn signals using my arms... lol!
