Standing strong while others run a hundred miles....
Playtime
05.31.04 (7:29 pm)   [edit]
Its amazing. When I am out of school, and with the wife gone, its seems that my world is finally focusing on what it shoud focus on: My son.

He is such a trooper. He has handled the upheaval around here over the past month so well. I am proud of you, little guy.

I just hope that dating will go smoothly. never tried it with a kid before...

Naptime
05.29.04 (4:22 pm)   [edit]
The little guy is taking a nap in the living room floor.

I have some classical music playing in the background to stimulate the little baby brain.

He had a hot day at preschool today. He is like his daddy, both of us can't stand heat and humidity.

Started a new account to save up to buy a new car sometime in the future. My car right now could go out any day. I want something reliable.... and for the little guy, something with air conditioning.

Ahh, the smell of clean
05.28.04 (10:36 am)   [edit]
The apartment is finally clean. Now, I can survey the damage of living here over a year with a toddler.

Pen marks on the walls that will require painting over... mystery stains that will not come out of the carpet....

Yah, I am SO not getting the deposit back whenever I move.

But its all good. I just like having the place smelling nice, and being a little more free of clutter. The little guy has his own dedicated corner in the living room now where all his toys are. He seems to enjoy it.

Of course, there was some sort of damn National Geographic Bee on today, so he missed Teletubbies. Who would have thought that PBS would pre-empt shows for "sports"?

Outsmart that, smarty!
05.26.04 (10:00 am)   [edit]
I think I finally have the fridge child proofed.

After getting two or three things that my little man was able to get around, I just rapped a bungee cord around the main door. He is in there right now, trying to open the door... and not succeeding.

Oh, he is mad! But at least the milk is safe.

Bath time with the kiddo... AGAIN!

How they get so messy... not like they have jobs....

awww
05.22.04 (7:40 pm)   [edit]
I was gonna talk about the spill my son made in the carpet.

I was gonna talk about the hissy fit he threw when I took the Dust Buster away.

Then, he fell asleep in my lap while I was at the computer.... and all I can think to say is that he is my joy.

Busy Week
05.21.04 (3:36 pm)   [edit]
All this week, either the blog was down, or I was too busy to mess with it. I couldnt win either way, til now. LOL!

Anyway, soon to be ex wife has been gone for a whole week. I have the majority of the damage control done in the apartment. Should have the place up to snuff by the end of tomorrow.

Then I can get the carpet guys in here. Then the landlord to fix the toilet that couldn't be fixed because of the wifes secret cat.......

Anyway, back to cleaning...

All the small things
05.14.04 (8:00 pm)   [edit]
All the small things that I was used to doing by myself that would take a couple of hours now take five. My little one is quite a handfull.

Anyway, after my errands, I got busy cleaning. See, the place has fallen into a cluttered mess, between the wife packing, her typical complete lack of motivation to clean anything ever, and my recent last couple of months filled with days that consisted of school/work/sleep/repeat.

You would think that the person who was home all day would try to keep the place clean... but I suppose that was a pipe dream. Anyway, with all the factors, the place is damn messy. However, I was able to get the bathroom done. One room down....

Of course, now that I can clean and not get yelled at whenever I want, I imagine that this place wont get this bad again.

Getting the ball rolling quickly
05.14.04 (8:21 am)   [edit]
Well, the divorce paperwork is all turned in, and the wife officially moved out this morning. The kiddo did a bit of crying... then decided to watch Seseme Street.

And the band played on....

One down, two to go

One final down today, two to go.

Remind me again why I decided to go back to school to get certified to teach?

Divorce update
05.10.04 (6:37 pm)   [edit]
Got a call on the cell that I am free and clear to turn in my divorce paperwork anytime now. I will probably get it turned in tomorrow or Thursday, depending on when the lawyer will be able to squeeze me in. After that, it will only be 45-60 days until the divorce is finalized.

I am still amazed. It took only two pieces of paper and 45 bucks to get married. Last count, I was up to over fifty pieces of paper and over 500 bucks to get divorced.

I think they should compare and contrast this stuff in home economics classes in high school. Nice little dose of reality.

Winding down
05.10.04 (6:18 pm)   [edit]
Well, I have three finals done finished, and three to go. I needed one point on a final to pass the course.... hope I did ok on that one. lol!

Seriously, its nice to know that you are gonna do ok in the class, and that the final is more about just showing up and having a pulse than actual study.

Things are winding down nicely elsewhere. This is my last week of school until June. For the next two/three weeks, I work a modified schedule so I won't be as stressed. Then, when I am taking classes this summer for those five weeks, I will hardly work at all. Then after that five week set, I go back on my modified schedule. And when fall rolls around again, I will know not to work damn near full time and take a full load of classes. So after Thursday, there will be no more of those days where I am gone from 8 am until 10 pm. Rock on!

Other events are going down as well, but thats another blog for another time. Gotta go get my son some shoes. He keeps losing his main pair...

Doughnut sneezes?
05.06.04 (7:28 am)   [edit]
I ate a doughnut from a new store today, and after that I have been sneezing and sneezing.

WTF, how can you be allergic to f-ing doughnuts?

Well, I guess this means I would never make it as a cop....

Well hello again everyone!
05.05.04 (8:15 am)   [edit]
Where have y'all been?

Oh thats right, the last time you came to class was during midterms! How nice of you all to drop back by during the final week of classes, and make parking a flucking nightmare!

Heh. Oh well. This is my last M-W-F class day, since Friday is called study day and there are no classes. I have one more day of classes on Thursday. I have two finals Thursday too, ironicly. Yah, why do finals during finals week, eh?

Well, my kiddo starts full time daycare in two weeks. I think the two days a week he has been going has been a good transistion for him. I am confident, and hopeful, that he will transistion well.

His mom moves out of state next week too. I wonder how long it will be before he realizes that she isn't coming back. She was gone a few days earlier this year to visit her man, and the little guy did ok. So here's to hoping he will adjust to those two major life changes well.

The ol' beater, part 1
05.03.04 (7:59 am)   [edit]
Ahh, the life of driving an old beater of a car.

I turned my radio off earlier this morning when I went to my first school because... well... morning drivetime radio sucks. Too much DJ jibba jabba. Too many references to Friends/American Idol/Survivor for my tastes, especually since I don't give a crap about any of those shows. And since my CD's are never to be found in the car among the 8 to 10 my soon to be ex wife has, I just turned the thing off.

Well, later on, I am driving to my other school, and I get into the left turn lane like a good boy. Next to me one of those damn Dodge Ram-based SUV's pulls up. You know, those pickup trucks that sound like f-ing semi's. Well, its so loud that I don't notice that my car had died My car has been dying alot lately after rain storms. I imagine that the cheap american made body lets water into the cheap american built engine, causeing it to fizzle out... but my lecture on why american cars suck can wait for another time.

I actually first notice my car is dead when I look at the clock on the radio, and see a blank screen. I turn nobs and hit buttons, and look at my dash to see the seat belt and air bag lights on. Right then, the light turns green.

Driving around the university is a dog-eat-dog proposistion, so I try to start the car as quickly as possible. I finally get it to start, but I do not make it thru the light. Luckily, nobody behind me decided to jump out and attempt to kick my ass... which as bad as traffic is around here is, has been known to happen.

But I make it to a parking lot, fiddle with the broken interior panel of my smashed in drivers side door so the door will open. Open the door 1/4th of the way, which is as far as it will open, get out and slam the door hard enough to get the dome light to shut off on the first try. I pause, pondering if I should lock the door, but realize that after getting hit, the outside door handle doesn't work. You can't open it from the outside even when it IS unlocked.

And thats just the drivers side. The passanger side isn't pretty either. But thats the subject of another blog at another time.
