My ass is playing music!
04.30.04 (8:31 am) [edit]
I am still not used to having a cell phone. I was walking to class, and all of a sudden this Jamaican music starts playing. I am like WTF? I look all around, and realize that its coming from my back pocket. This startles me, since my ass has never broken out in a rasta tune before.
"Oh yah", I say to myself, "I have a cell phone now."
It was time to upgrade from the pager... and while I admire the fun games and convience of the cell phone, I still miss my little pager buddy who served me so well for so many years.
I miss pager races that friends and I used to have. You know, put the things on vibrate, then call your pager over and over, trying to get it vibrate to the finish line. Alas, most people I know have given up pagers a year or two ago... and the Pager Racetrack was empty of fans and participants.
I knew it was time to move into the cell phone age.
Picked it up a few weeks back, but haven't used it much except for games and as a calculator. I like it, tho. Its nice to have the security of always having a phone... and a rasta band in my back pocket.

Total... and I'm not talking cereal baby!
04.29.04 (8:15 am) [edit]
Well, the insurance dude came to look at my car, and they want to total it.
Yeah ha. Not only is it a beater, but now its a beater that I can't use as a trade in or sell to a sane person if I wanted to.
Joyful.
Anyway, got the little guy off to daycare, and he spent a good portion of the time crying again. They tell me that he is having a hard time adjusting, but thats normal. I am so glad I started him part time. Better this than throwing him in cold turkey. When he goes full time in a couple weeks, things should be better on him, I hope...

Take charge with Spam!
04.27.04 (8:44 am) [edit]
Ahh, another day, another chance to clean the spam out of my email.
Out of the 100+ message I got between yesterday and today, 35 were for Viagra, 20 were for BowFlex, 25 were for Valtrex, and around 20 were for various porn sites.
Wait a minute, I am confused.....
The Spam Gods™ up on Mount Spamious have decided to send me some very contradictory messages these days. Lets sort this out....
I suspect that the Spam Gods™ don't think I get laid much. Why? Well, for starters they think I am out of shape. Thus, they send me ads for Bowflex. Which is cool. I mean, who doesn't have 900 bucks laying around the house to buy workout equipment that they will use for a couple of weeks then stick in the closet? Well, last time I checked, I was 7 pounds overweight. Thats a week of not eating whoppers and taking the stairs to my 8th floor class. Plus, I actually have self esteem. Thus, I don't need a Bowflex.
But lets assume that I bought into what my spam tells me. I would assume that next, I would need some Viagra. I actually ran that idea by my soon to be ex wife once. I acted all serious about it too. She actually begged me not to get viagra, since I oversexed her enough as it was.
But let me just check to see if everything is working down on the Battle Bridge. *Checks out cute girl across the lab* *Checks his pants*
Yep, everything still functions. I really don't know what the Spam Gods™ were thinking when sending me Viagra ads....
Oh wait... maybe I need Viagra because I have issues getting erections thanks to my apparent case of HERPIES! Yes sir, from the wonderful people who stick some starving actress on t.v. to "confess" about her life living with Genital Herpies.... comes email about Valtrex. It tells me to "take charge". Well, if I actually had herpies, I would imagine I would be thrilled. However, I tend to "take charge" by knowing the histories of the women I sleep with, and by using protection. So I will pass on the Valtrex too.
I swear, you would think the Spam Gods™ would know their clients a bit better. I don't need a Bowflex, I don't want any Viagra, and I don't need Valtrex. I am in fine shape, and since I am getting divorced, I am not getting laid.... so I don't need to worry about all that silly medicine for my weiner.
Yep.... not getting any here. No need for Valtrex or Viagra. No sir. Why medicate it when you aren't using it. I mean, I haven't gotten any in so long.....
Hmmm... maybe I should check out a couple of those porn emails. After all, its not polite to ignore ALL of your email......
I guess the Spam Gods™ know their stuff after all.....

Test
04.26.04 (4:39 pm) [edit]
Ahh, a night off work. I can kick back, relax.... and take a telecourse test! Woo!
I have two more tests to go in this telecourse. I need 28 points on both of them to pass, or a 58 on both to get a C, or a 78 on both to get a B. I am not overly worried.
Tomorrow, another day, another paper due. lol! And so the ending weeks of the semester go....
BTW, My car got hit by another driver. Just driving along and BAM, there is another car in the driver side door. I am fine, but now my drivers door wont open. At all. I am going in and out of the car Dukes of Hazzard style. I guess now my car is officially an old beater.
I hope the other person's insurance will pay for it. I would hate to have to try to sell this car in the condition it is in. I can see it now...
Buyer: "What happened to the door?" Me: " um, parking lot. Shopping cart." Buyer: "That was a damn big cart! It took off half the side of your car!" Me: "Yah, thats the last time I shop at Sam's Club. Their carts are way too big."
I guess I will find out about fixing it when the insurance adjuster for the other person's company calls me.

Sorta Back Kinda
04.23.04 (8:10 am) [edit]
Well, that was a fun bout of the flu. Only took a week to get over. Still have some drainage issues, but they will work themselves out.
Anywho, I read my blog and I think I need to clarify some things. I do not hate my soon to be ex wife. Actually, we are fairly good friends. What I use the blog for is a place to vent about stuff that... well, I just can't vent about anywhere else. We get along fairly well for people who are divorcing. She just has quirks that bug me.
And hey, you should see her blog about me. I make her out to be a saint compared to what she writes about me. lol!
Anyway, just found out that I live about 1000 feet from one of the top 5 most dangerious intersections in the city. Which is not suprising. I can look out my living room window and watch car accidents happen. But now knowing that there is a statistic that backs up my thoughts about the intersection... it will give me a warm fuzzy feeling as I drive thru it everyday.
The warm feeling will be supplied when I pee myself in fear.
Naw, just kidding. I wouldn't pee myself while driving. That stuff is hard to get out of the floor mats....

04.15.04 (8:42 am) [edit]
Just got some info that my divorce has been started! I just need to get the rest of the fees paid, which should happen in the next couple of weeks, and I am well on my way.
Don't get me wrong, I admit some sadness to see this chapter of my life end. But at the same time, I am ready to move on to something bigger, better, and new.
Also, had someone request to be a friend on here. Rock on! Its cool to know that someone is actually reading this... and that I will have a blog or two to follow of someone elses.
Now I will actually do a profile. :)
Anywho, off to class. Current Mood: 8) :

Car on the sidwalk?!??
04.15.04 (8:33 am) [edit]
Looking out the window, I got to watch a five minute episode of a car driving down the sidewalk, right thru the middle of campus.
Ha, I guess that old saying that someone would tell you when they are pissed off at you...you know, "Go play in the street!" is a complement now. Next time I hear it, I will reply "Its nice to know you like me! After all, the traffic around here is on the sidewalk!"
Anywho.....
Attempting to print some forms, but I don't think that Acrobat works very well on this computer. Time to computer hop through the lab.

Ok, now a person with common sence would probably not give a three year old a chocolate pudding stick when that three year old is in his carpeted bedroom, right?
Well, anyone with some spare common sence, if you could send some to my soon to be ex wife, PO BOX.....
Once again, the second she moves out, I will have to have a steam cleaner in trying to undo the damage. Yippie!

Supercenter Excitement
04.14.04 (8:06 am) [edit]
I am reading a story about a small town nearby that is excited because they are getting a Walmart Supercenter. They act as if it is their town's crowning achievement. I don't think they realize how much their new "achievement" will suck.
I live in a city with four Supercenters. If possible, I try to shop at the Target, Big Lots, The 1/2 Store (they call themselves some other fancy name now, but they will always be half price stores to me), or one of the two Kmarts. Hell, we are lucky enough to still have an old fashioned regular Walmart, and I will go there before I brave a Supercenter.
I actually like the old non Supercenter Walmart we have. They still have some of the old "Walmart Discount City" shopping carts. 'Old' folks like me will remember those. ;)
For food, I try to shop at one of the supermarkets nearby, unless the price differenece is so signifigant that it justifies the nightmare experience of going to the Supercenter.
Oh man, its funny. They are talking to a couple of people who were just hired at the new Supercenter. They said that their jobs "are real careers." Boy, they are in for a rude awakening. I can assure you, that old Greeter dude is not some lifelong Walmart employee. He is some guy who retired three years ago and has nothing better to do... or perhaps he got fired from another Walmart because his drawer was $1 short... and the only job Walmart would give him is Greeter-Man.
Ahh well. Only 10 more days of MWF classes, and then according to a new count, 7 more T TH classes.
But who's counting?

Draggin O' The Feet
04.13.04 (7:41 am) [edit]
My little guy really drug his feet getting up this morning. Then he drug his feet getting out of the car at daycare/preschool. Poor little guy looked tired. I tell yah, he got my 'I don't do mornings' gene.
Yah, when I am a teacher, my first hour class will rock. Kids will want my first hour class. I figure half the time I will have "Osmosis Learning". Put their heads down on their books, take a snooze, and learn through absorbing it. That way, teacher can nap... er, I mean do some "Osmosis Grading" of papers. Yah, thats the ticket...
Anyway, I had a nice parking experience today. I have to make up a test, so I am at the other school I attend today, instead of fighting my way for a parking spot at the big University. Here, you can pull in during prime time and find a spot. It rocks.
Of course, I have a one pm class at the big school. Assuming I find a spot, I will be there with bells on.
Not really, I hate that class. I am not a big fan of the class I am skipping this morning to make up this test, either.
Oh well. Ten more class sessions in all my classes. Keep 'em coming, so I can end this semester and move on to new challanges.

My little man got sick, probably from daycare, this weekend. Thats the other main reason I wasn't on the net much. He is a cranky little bugger when he is ill.
He is finally up and running around, destroying stuff as usual. I think he has made a full recovery.

Random Scattered Stuff
04.12.04 (8:28 am) [edit]
First, an FYI. The add a blog screen doesn't work in Netscape 4.8. I have discovered this every weekend, when I try to post from a computer that has Netscape on it. I guess they use layers, which Netscape cannot handle. Another example of a website that thinks the world revolves around IE.
Its cool tho. This is free. I can't complain too much. Its just an observation.
Anywho, four more weeks of school, then finals. I am looking forward to the summer, since I only have two five week classes. Even with those classes, there will be no more of this being gone from 8 am until 10pm crap anymore. Next semester is planned out a bit better, and I shouldn't have such a nasty schedule. Just four more weeks to go in this semester...
Also, I am finally starting to get get the final legal preparations in order to finally get things fixed up in my life. Perhaps the time in my life, which I call The Troubles, is starting to be close to its end.
But then again, I won't count my chickens until they are hatched, so to speak. While some of the worst parts may finally conclude soon, I won't consider the issue finished until I get that teaching contract in my hand.
Its all a work in progress. *holds up glass* Here's to... um.... a successful 'reconstruction'.

This and That....
04.07.04 (8:50 am) [edit]
Its cloudy and cool today. My favorite kind of weather. I love days like this. I am so not into that whole hot and sunny crap we get around here in the summer.
I am reading thru election results, and its amazing. There were about 200 school tax levy increases on the ballot this time. I guess that its the people in the mid to large cities, or the small bedroom towns that surround those cities, that care the most about education. They are the ones that pass the new taxes to make up for state budget problems. Those little towns out in the middle of farm country, where the kids have little hope for the future in the first place, continue to put nails in the coffins of their childrens dreams by voting against tax increases. Seriously, people from small towns wonder why city people think of them as uneducated hicks... well, maybe these elections, in towns where the taxes failed and more teachers and programs for at risk children will be cut... maybe their next generation of poorly educated children will finally illustrate the point that education is important, and that in order for that education to be quality, you have to pay for it.
I really don't get the rural mentality. One of the taxes would have meant that the average homeowner of a $100,000 home would pay about $10 more a year on that house in taxes. I realize that rural people tend to hold the whole "Its my money" ideal dear to their hearts, but this is holding that ideal to a fault.
I also realize that many of these districts are in economicly depressed areas. But I will tackle those issues in another post, when I have more time to flesh out my thoughts on how school funding and poverty go hand in hand. And explain the states school funding formula, which is tied to the property tax rate of the district. I think that will put alot of things into perspective.
Oh, and don't worry. I am not one of those bloggers on here with some huge adjenda who will try to wow people with numbers or baffle them with bullshit. I have read some of those all political blogs. They are downright... well, they are something else. *cough*
At any rate, ten bucks can buy a person, oh, lets say dinner at McDonalds. So this means that in several districts, a few thousand people would rather have ONE extra dinner at McDonalds, instead of chipping in that money and improving their childrens hopes for the future, and society in general.
I just don't get it.
But then again, I don't get the NRA, why someone would want to live their whole lives in one small town, or the appeal of NASCAR either.
Now watch, through some twist of irony, my first teaching job will be in some podunk small town.
No wait. No it won't. I forgot. They don't like to pay for their schools.
Oh well, off to class. We voted on topics to discuss for the rest of the semester. Today and for the next week or two, we are discussing the most popular topic, Criminal Justice.
I believe I was the only person in the class who did NOT vote for this topic. It is not really an area I have alot of interest in.
< sarcasm. Looks like the party has just begun for me! >

Nice expression...
04.06.04 (8:02 am) [edit]
Curious about the text, I decided to investigate one of the ads that appeared on my blog, and I saw this image at the top of the page:
If they don't allow hotlinking, head here and give it a looksy.
Now, I like money as much as the next person. But I don't think that guy is giving us a "I just got alot of money" expression he has on his face.
That looks more like a "I have to give this hooker all this money, but damn, I am getting the best blowjob EVER!" face to me.
Maybe I am reading into it too deeply.....

Off I go...

Stuff of Randomness
04.05.04 (8:03 am) [edit]
Looks like my entry from yesterday got eaten. Its all good. I am glad that today I have my restored number of Tbucks. When I logged on yesterday, I had -16.
Almost hit some old man today. Apparently, in his mind, the yellow light means that it is the perfect time to start waddling across the street. I almost nailed the guy, and the car next to me almost nailed him. He apparently made it out of the gauntlet alive. I saw him driving later. I think he was talking to himself.
Perhaps he was cussing out the stupidity of unobservant pedestrians... but somehow I doubt that.
Anyway, its a nice sunny day. Good day for some outside activities after class. And, unlike some people, I don't play in the street.

Killing time
04.02.04 (8:35 am) [edit]
While killing time instead of studying for a test or doing a paper, I cruised to a mb I post at and checked my pm's. Got a pm from a girl on the board who has noted that she is actually interested in me, possibly for a relationship.
I chat with her on AIM alot. She is very fun to talk to, and I enjoy our chats. I have alot of fun just kinda hanging out with her and babbling about this and that.
She is also cute.
Yah, I said she was cute. Cute is like... a 7th grade term, I know.
I admit it, it feels wierd thinking about such things when you are not officially divorced. Sometimes it feels a bit dirty... a bit naughty. When my soon to be ex and I decided to split, I thought that I would avoid women for a long time. Of course, in that situation, one could understand a bit of bitterness like that. I wanted noting to do with relationships for... oh... say... years.
But there is just something about this girl that is interesting me.
Something that makes me not want to take myself off the market, so to speak.
Something that makes me want to read the pm again.
Its something I just can't put my finger on.
I ponder if I should take a next step... and if so, what that next step should be.... I guess for now, I will just go with the flow.
Whatever will be, will be. I have always lived with that philosophy.

04.02.04 (8:22 am) [edit]
Well, the day has gone good so far. Talked my way out of a deadline for a four page paper. Now I have the weekend to finish it.
Remember kids, make nice with your teachers. It can reap dividends. 8)
Anyway, have a test in about 45 minutes, then summer and fall registration and a paper due at 1ish that is almost done.
I say almost, cause I am posting this instead of working on the paper.
Time to throw it into fifth, and hope to cruise thru the rest of the day.
